Echo of Ourselves

What you thought would last for a life time
will surely fade away. Look at the brilliant sunset,
like the pink section of a crayon box spread out over the sky.
How quickly the colors melt from the canvas of the sky
and become diluted by the vast ocean horizon.
Look at the towering cliffs as black as polished obsidian
that are destined to be diminished into myriads of sand.
Watch as your beauty withers and fades, as creases and lines
form where smooth taut skin used to shine radiantly.
But even with these things gone or changed
there is still an echo of our true selves cryin
